Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig is depicted at the center of his mandala palace, a physical representation of the heavenly realm Potala. The four doorways represent the Four Immeasurable Thoughts: love, compassion, joy, equanimity. He has thousand arms representing his ability to assist a myriad of sentient beings, and a thousand eyes indicating his ability to see all of the world's suffering. Avalokiteshvara's mantra is 'Om Mani Padme Hum'.
