Avalokitshevara or Chenrezig is depicted at the center of his mandala palace, a physical representation of the heavenly realm Potala. The four doorways represent the Four Immeasurable Thoughts: love, compassion, joy, equanimity. He has thousand arms representing his ability to assist a myriad of sentient beings, and a thousand eyes indicating his ability to see all of the world's suffering. He is surrounded by the eight auspicious symbols, each symbol depicted on a petal of the eight petaled lotus. Above him are White Tara, Amitabha, and Green Tara. Depicted below are Manjushri, and Vajrapani which with Avalokitshvera symbolize that wisdom, power, and compassion are all essential for enlightenment. Along the border are the eight aupicious symbols alongside protective Herukas and dragons. Avalokitshevara's mantra is 'Om Mani Padme Hum'.
