Machig Labron, considered a dakini and emanation of Tara and Prajnaparamita, was the consort of Padampa Sangye, and founded a system of Chöd which stems from her special enlightenment on the teachings of evil or Mara. Chöd, translated means 'cutting through' and is a meditative practice and method for releasing fixation on the self.
