Demon destroying warrior goddess Durga is depicted with eight arms is atop her companion Bahana the lion. She holds weapons given to her by various deities and used to defeat the bovine demon Mahishasura including a sword, trident, vajra, bow and arrow, spear,shankh, lotus, and axe. She is a powerful fierce feminine protector who remains peaceful in the midst of battle and guides the practitioner beyond confusion to liberation.
