One of the eight auspicious symbols, the right spiraling conch is said to represent the motion of the sun, moon and planetary bodies and the white color symbolizes purity and perfection. During ritual the conch holds holy water, and in addition they are blown as a sound offering. The sounding vibration of the conch represents the melodic sound of the dharma which awakens spiritual disciples of ignorance.
